Kanye's first work for adidas brings us back to 2006. What people had whitnessed was Ben Pruess (global director of adidas Originals) sharing a picture of Kanye’s design on Instagram. The post showed a reworked Rod Laver Vintage sneaker in a white colorway with the iconic Dropout Bear to the tongue for some classic Kanye edge.
In 2013, 7 years later after the image post, adidias and Kanye officially joined forces. The successful artist and songwriter signed a deal worth $10 million to design sneakers under the adidas Originals banner. Making a name of himself in the music world, Kanye would soon bless the sneaker community with a clear vision, highly influenced by his artistical talent. A vision that would not only bring a whole new era within fashion but also create a lot of contoversy.
