This Tottenham Hotspur 2010/11 home shirt was made by Puma and features Jermain Defoe’s #18 nameset together with UEFA Champions League and Respect sleeve patches. It comes from a landmark season in Tottenham’s modern history, when the club made its Champions League debut and produced an unexpectedly memorable run all the way to the quarter-finals.

Under Harry Redknapp, Spurs immediately made an impression in their first Champions League campaign. After overcoming Young Boys in qualifying, they topped a group containing defending champions Inter Milan, Werder Bremen and Twente. Gareth Bale’s hat-trick at San Siro and Tottenham’s subsequent 3–1 victory over Inter at White Hart Lane became defining moments of the run. Spurs then eliminated AC Milan 1–0 on aggregate in the Round of 16 before eventually losing to Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.

Defoe’s season was disrupted by injury, but he still contributed to Tottenham’s European adventure. He scored in the 4–0 qualifying victory over Young Boys that secured Spurs’ place in the Champions League group stage, before scoring twice away against Twente in the final group match. His brace helped Tottenham draw 3–3 and finish top of their group ahead of Inter.

For collectors, the combination of Defoe #18, Champions League sleeve detailing and the sponsorless European configuration makes this a particularly appealing Tottenham shirt. More importantly, it represents a celebrated Spurs side featuring Defoe, Bale, Luka Modrić, Rafael van der Vaart, Peter Crouch and Aaron Lennon during the club’s breakthrough Champions League campaign.
