This Tottenham Hotspur 2010/11 away shirt was made by Puma and features Gareth Bale’s #3 nameset together with Barclays Premier League sleeve patches. The sky-blue design comes from Bale’s breakthrough season at the highest level, when he transformed from an attacking left-back into one of Europe’s most exciting wide players and was named PFA Players’ Player of the Year at just 21.
The 2010/11 campaign was Tottenham’s first appearance in the Champions League and became one of the club’s most memorable European seasons. Harry Redknapp’s side topped a group containing defending champions Inter Milan, Werder Bremen and Twente before eliminating AC Milan 1–0 on aggregate in the Round of 16. Their run eventually ended against Real Madrid in the quarter-finals, while Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League.
Bale produced the performances that made the season particularly memorable. His defining night came at San Siro against Inter, where Tottenham trailed 4–0 before Bale scored a second-half hat-trick to reduce the deficit to 4–3. Two weeks later he tormented Inter again as Spurs beat the European champions 3–1 at White Hart Lane. Bale finished the Champions League campaign with four goals and two assists in nine appearances, while his performances across the season earned him the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.
