This is the Newcastle United 2016/17 Away Shirt, featuring Matt Ritchie #11 from his outstanding debut season at St James’ Park. Signed from AFC Bournemouth in the summer of 2016, Ritchie immediately became a key figure under Rafael Benítez as Newcastle looked to return to the Premier League at the first attempt. He finished the campaign with 16 goals in all competitions and was named the North East Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year, establishing himself as one of the defining players of Newcastle’s promotion season.
Manufactured by PUMA, the 2016/17 away shirt features a dark navy base contrasted by a bold orange horizontal chest band and matching orange detailing across the shoulders and sleeves. The design is completed by a traditional buttoned polo collar, white PUMA branding and the Newcastle United crest. This example also features long sleeves, Ritchie’s #11 nameset and official EFL Sky Bet Championship sleeve patches, giving it a particularly distinctive appearance from Newcastle’s season outside the Premier League.
