This Manchester United 2010/11 home shirt was made by Nike and features Dimitar Berbatov’s #9 nameset together with Barclays Premier League sleeve patches. The shirt comes from arguably the defining season of Berbatov’s Manchester United career, when he finished as the Premier League’s joint top scorer and helped Sir Alex Ferguson’s side claim a record-breaking 19th English league title.
The season became a major one in Manchester United history. Ferguson’s team won the Premier League with 80 points, securing the club’s 19th English league championship and moving ahead of Liverpool’s then-record of 18. United also reached the Champions League final at Wembley, where they were beaten by Barcelona. The squad combined long-established figures such as Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand with Wayne Rooney, Nani, Javier Hernández and Berbatov.
Berbatov was outstanding domestically. He scored 20 Premier League goals to share the Golden Boot with Carlos Tevez, including some of the most memorable performances of his United career. He scored a hat-trick in the 3–2 victory over Liverpool at Old Trafford and, in November 2010, scored five times as United demolished Blackburn Rovers 7–1. That made him only the fourth player at the time to score five goals in a single Premier League match.
