This is the Manchester United 2005/06 away shirt made by Nike, shown here with Ronaldo 7 on the back and a UEFA Champions League patch on the sleeve. It features a bold royal blue base, red shoulder and sleeve inserts, the Manchester United crest at the centre of the chest, the white Nike Swoosh, and Vodafone as the front sponsor.

The shirt uses a strong blue base with red contrast sections at the shoulders, sleeve cuffs, and lower side panels, which gives it a much more aggressive look than many of United’s more traditional away shirts. The crest is centrally placed above the sponsor, which is one of the defining visual details of this shirt.

Manchester United used this away shirt during the 2005/06 season, when the club finished second in the Premier League and won the League Cup under Sir Alex Ferguson. Cristiano Ronaldo was still in the early stage of his United career but had already become one of the team’s most exciting players. That makes the Ronaldo 7 print especially important.
