This Liverpool 2020/21 away shirt was made by Nike and features Sadio Mané’s #10 nameset together with Carabao Cup sleeve detailing. The shirt is particularly significant as it comes from Liverpool’s first season with Nike, following the end of their New Balance partnership, and from the campaign immediately after Jürgen Klopp’s side had been crowned Premier League champions.
Liverpool entered 2020/21 as defending Premier League champions but endured a difficult campaign heavily affected by injuries, particularly in defence. Despite a difficult middle section of the season, Klopp’s side recovered strongly to finish third and secure Champions League qualification. In Europe, Liverpool reached the Champions League quarter-finals before being eliminated by Real Madrid.
Mané remained a major part of Liverpool’s attacking trio alongside Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, with Diogo Jota also arriving during the campaign. Wearing his established #10, the Senegalese forward scored 16 goals across all competitions, including 11 in the Premier League and three in the Champions League. He finished the league season particularly strongly, scoring twice against Crystal Palace on the final day as Liverpool secured third place and Champions League football for the following season.
For collectors, the combination of Mané #10, Carabao Cup sleeve detailing and the highly distinctive teal Shankly Gates-inspired design makes this an interesting representation of Liverpool’s early Nike era. It also captures Mané during the peak period of his Liverpool career, between the club’s 2019 Champions League triumph and his departure in 2022.
