FK Anzhi Makhachkala's 2013/14 third football shirt, manufactured by Nike, features Brazilian attacking midfielder Willian #10. The shirt represents one of the most unusual chapters in modern European football, when Anzhi briefly emerged as an ambitious destination for international stars backed by significant financial investment. Willian joined the Russian club from Shakhtar Donetsk in February 2013 for a reported €35 million, becoming part of a squad featuring Samuel Eto'o, Lassana Diarra and Yuri Zhirkov. His arrival reflected Anzhi's ambition to establish themselves among Europe's leading clubs, although his time in Dagestan would ultimately prove remarkably short.
The shirt features a clean white base complemented by contrasting black detailing, creating a minimalist appearance. A black-trimmed collar with a short button-style placket forms the centrepiece of the design, while matching black sleeve cuffs provide additional contrast. The Anzhi Makhachkala crest appears on the chest opposite the black Nike Swoosh, with the Energy Standard Group sponsor prominently displayed across the front. Additional Cyrillic lettering and graphics above the Nike logo reference the club's regional identity. The back features Willian's name and number 10 in bold black lettering, with small Anzhi crests incorporated into the numbers. The understated design offers a distinctive alternative to the club's traditional yellow colours.
The 2013/14 season marked a dramatic turning point for Anzhi Makhachkala. Following several years of substantial investment, owner Suleyman Kerimov announced major financial restructuring in August 2013, triggering the departure of numerous high-profile players. Willian, who had joined only six months earlier, transferred to Chelsea later that month, bringing his brief spell in Russia to an end. Anzhi subsequently struggled in the Russian Premier League and finished the season in last place, suffering relegation to the second division. Despite the club's domestic difficulties, they reached the UEFA Europa League Round of 16, where they were eliminated by AZ Alkmaar. The shirt remains a reminder of Anzhi's extraordinary rise and sudden decline during one of football's most ambitious short-lived projects.
