This is the Spain 2002 home shirt made by adidas, shown here with Puyol 5 on the back and the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan patch on the sleeve. It features a red base with yellow trim, navy adidas three stripes on the shoulders, the Spain crest on the chest, and the number 5 on the front and back.
The design is typical of adidas national-team templates from the early 2000s. The main body is solid red, while the side panels use a ventilated yellow graphic pattern that adds more visual detail than a plain block-colour shirt. The round collar and sleeve cuffs are finished in yellow, which keeps the shirt closely tied to Spain’s national colours. Compared with later Spain shirts, this one has a more technical early-2000s look, especially in the side inserts and panel construction.
Spain used this home shirt during the 2002 FIFA World Cup, where they reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated by South Korea on penalties. Carles Puyol was part of that squad and was already emerging as one of Spain’s key defenders, which makes the Puyol 5 printing fully relevant. Because it combines a major tournament, World Cup sleeve patching, and one of Spain’s most recognizable defenders of the era, this is a strong collector shirt from the early international career of a future Spanish legend.
