Florencia Anahí Banini (often referred to simply as “Flor Banini”) is a professional Argentine footballer born on January 21, 1994, in Mendoza, Argentina. Regarded as one of the most talented and technically skilled players in Argentine women’s football, she is an attacking midfielder/forward known for her creativity, dribbling ability, and playmaking.
Banini moved to the United States in 2015, signing with the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). She quickly became a key player, showcasing her attacking flair.
In 2018, she was loaned to Valencia CF in Spain’s Primera División (women), gaining valuable experience in one of Europe’s top leagues. After her loan, Banini continued her career in Spain. She joined Levante UD, where she was a standout playmaker. She then moved to Atlético Madrid, one of the country’s most renowned clubs.
Banini has long been a central figure for the Argentina women’s national team. She played a crucial role in Argentina’s 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign and has been an important player throughout various Copa América Femenina tournaments. Despite occasional disputes with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) that temporarily affected her call-ups, Banini’s influence on and off the pitch has solidified her status as a generational talent for her country. She returned to the national team setup for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, reaffirming her role as one of Argentina’s key creative forces.
