Nahuel Ignacio Guzmán Palomeque, commonly known as Nahuel Guzmán, is an Argentine professional goalkeeper born on February 10, 1986, in Rosario, Argentina.
Guzmán came through the youth system of Newell’s Old Boys in Rosario. He was a key part of the 2013 Newell’s Old Boys team that won the Torneo Final (the top division title in Argentina).
In mid-2014, Guzmán transferred to Tigres UANL in Liga MX. He quickly became Tigres’ first-choice goalkeeper and has been a mainstay of the squad ever since. With Tigres, he has won multiple Liga MX championships and played in major competitions, including reaching the 2015 Copa Libertadores final (where Tigres finished as runners-up). He also played a significant role in the club’s run to the 2020 CONCACAF Champions League title and subsequent participation in the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup, finishing as runner-up.
Guzmán was first called up to the Argentina national team under coach Gerardo Martino, who had previously coached him at Newell’s. He was in and out of the national team squads, serving as a backup in various competitions, including the 2015 and 2016 Copa América and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
