This Manchester United 2000/02 home shirt was manufactured by Umbro and features the club's traditional red colourway, combined with black-and-white detailing. The design has a textured red fabric with subtle horizontal lines, a black V-neck collar with white piping and matching trim around the sleeve cuffs. The Manchester United crest sits on the chest opposite the white Umbro logo, while the silver-and-black Vodafone sponsor provides one of the shirt's most recognisable features.

The reverse features KEANE #16, representing Manchester United's influential captain Roy Keane. The nameset uses the Premier League's classic arched lettering, with large white numbers outlined in black and the league's lion emblem positioned at the base. Keane's number 16 became synonymous with his leadership, intensity and commanding presence in midfield throughout one of the most successful periods in the club's history.

Introduced for the 2000/01 season, the shirt marked an important change in Manchester United's commercial history. Vodafone replaced SHARP as the club's principal shirt sponsor, ending an association that had lasted since the early 1980s. The design remained in use for two seasons and was among the final Manchester United home shirts produced by Umbro before Nike took over in 2002. 

Under Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United secured their third consecutive Premier League title in 2000/01, finishing ten points ahead of Arsenal. The following season proved more difficult domestically, with United finishing third behind Arsenal and Liverpool. However, the club reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in 2001/02, where they were eliminated by Bayer Leverkusen on away goals. 

Roy Keane remained central to Manchester United's success throughout this period. As club captain, the Irish midfielder provided leadership, defensive discipline and an uncompromising competitive mentality. Playing alongside the likes of Paul Scholes, David Beckham and Ryan Giggs, Keane was an essential part of the midfield that helped United dominate English football around the turn of the millennium.

For collectors, this shirt represents a significant transition between two recognisable periods of Manchester United's history. The introduction of the Vodafone sponsor, the final years of Umbro's partnership with the club and Keane's iconic #16 nameset combine to make it a distinctive piece from the early 2000s.
