This Manchester United 1994/96 home shirt was manufactured by Umbro and features one of the club's most recognisable designs of the 1990s. The shirt combines United's traditional red colourway with a black fold-over collar, white piping and a distinctive lace-effect V-neck opening. The white Umbro logo and iconic SHARP sponsor sit across the chest, alongside the Manchester United crest, which is presented within a white shield outline.
The reverse features SCHOLES #22, representing Paul Scholes during the early years of his Manchester United career. The white nameset and oversized numbers feature Umbro branding at the base, creating a period-specific appearance. Scholes wore number 22 before becoming synonymous with the number 18 shirt, making this configuration particularly representative of his emergence into the first team.
The shirt was worn across the 1994/95 and 1995/96 seasons under Sir Alex Ferguson. United narrowly missed out on the Premier League title in 1994/95, finishing second to Blackburn Rovers, before producing one of the club's most memorable campaigns the following year. In 1995/96, United overturned Newcastle United's substantial lead at the top of the table to reclaim the Premier League title, then defeated Liverpool 1–0 in the FA Cup final through Eric Cantona's late winning goal to complete the Double.
The 1995/96 campaign was also a defining moment for the Class of '92. Alongside David Beckham, Gary Neville and Nicky Butt, Scholes became an increasingly important member of Ferguson's first team. Wearing number 22, he made 26 Premier League appearances and scored ten league goals that season, establishing himself as one of the club's most promising young players. His contribution marked the beginning of a career that would eventually bring him 11 Premier League titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies.
For collectors, this shirt brings together several defining elements of Manchester United's 1990s identity: the SHARP sponsor, Umbro's elaborate Old Trafford graphic and Scholes' early-career #22 nameset. Its connection to the 1996 Double and the emergence of the Class of '92 makes it an especially meaningful design from one of the club's most celebrated periods.
