This Manchester United 2004/06 home shirt was manufactured by Nike and features the club's traditional red colourway, complemented by black-and-white detailing. The design combines a bright red base with a black-trimmed V-neck collar, white mesh panels around the neckline and shoulders, and contrasting sleeve detailing. The Manchester United crest is positioned centrally on the chest, with the white Nike Swoosh above the silver-and-black Vodafone sponsor.

The reverse features ROONEY #8, representing Wayne Rooney during his first two seasons at Manchester United. The nameset uses the Premier League's classic arched lettering, with white numbers outlined in black and the league's lion emblem at the base. Rooney wore number 8 following his arrival from Everton in 2004, before eventually inheriting the iconic number 10 shirt in 2007.

The shirt was worn during the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons under Sir Alex Ferguson, a period that saw Manchester United transition towards a new generation of attacking talent. Although the club finished third in the Premier League in 2004/05 and lost the FA Cup final to Arsenal on penalties, the following campaign brought silverware with a 4–0 victory over Wigan Athletic in the 2006 League Cup final. Rooney scored twice in that final, underlining his growing importance to the team. 

Rooney's arrival from Everton in August 2004 was one of the defining transfers of the period. Still only 18 years old, he announced himself at Old Trafford with a remarkable hat-trick against Fenerbahçe on his Champions League debut. Playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes, Rooney quickly established himself as one of England's most exciting young forwards. His combination of physicality, creativity and goalscoring ability would eventually make him Manchester United's all-time leading goalscorer. 

For collectors, this shirt represents the beginning of Rooney's Manchester United career. The early #8 nameset, classic Vodafone sponsorship and Nike's distinctive mid-2000s design connect it to the emergence of a player who would become one of the club's greatest goalscorers.
