This Juventus 2009/10 third shirt was made by Nike and features Alessandro Del Piero’s #10 nameset together with UEFA Europa League and Respect sleeve patches. The distinctive gold design is finished with white trim around the V-neck, sleeves and hem, while the black Nike swoosh, Juventus crest and New Holland Fiat Group sponsor provide contrast across the front.
The gold shirt had originally been introduced as Juventus’ away kit for 2008/09 before being carried over as the club’s third shirt for the 2009/10 campaign. It saw very limited use during its second season, with records showing the design being worn away against Parma in Serie A and Fulham in the Europa League.
The 2009/10 season was a difficult transitional campaign for Juventus. Ciro Ferrara began the season as head coach before being replaced by Alberto Zaccheroni, while a squad featuring Gianluigi Buffon, Fabio Cannavaro, Giorgio Chiellini, David Trezeguet and new signing Diego eventually finished seventh in Serie A. Juventus began their European campaign in the Champions League before dropping into the Europa League, where they defeated Ajax before facing Fulham in the Round of 16.
Del Piero remained captain and the symbolic figure of the team. By 2009/10 he was already deep into his second decade with Juventus, with the #10 inseparable from his identity at the club. He started both legs against Ajax in the Europa League and later appeared as a substitute in the dramatic second leg against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
For collectors, this particular configuration is especially interesting because it combines Del Piero #10 with the European sleeve detailing on a shirt that had only a brief role in Juventus’ 2009/10 kit rotation. The gold Nike design, New Holland sponsor and connection to the club’s Europa League campaign make it a distinctive shirt from the later years of Del Piero’s Juventus career.
