Adidas - Spain 2012 Away Football Shirt 'TORRES'

This Spain 2012 away shirt was made by adidas and features Fernando Torres’ #9 nameset together with UEFA Respect and UEFA EURO 2008 Champions sleeve patches. Worn during Spain’s victorious EURO 2012 campaign, it comes from the final chapter of an unprecedented run in which La Roja won EURO 2008, the 2010 World Cup and EURO 2012 consecutively. 

Under Vicente del Bosque, Spain progressed from a group containing Italy, Republic of Ireland and Croatia before defeating France 2–0 in the quarter-final and Portugal on penalties in the semi-final. The final produced one of the defining performances of the era, with Spain beating Italy 4–0 in Kyiv through goals from David Silva, Jordi Alba, Torres and Juan Mata. It remains the largest winning margin in a EURO final.

Torres played an important role despite starting only part of the tournament. He scored twice in the 4–0 group-stage victory over Republic of Ireland before coming from the bench in the final and scoring Spain’s third against Italy. He then assisted Chelsea teammate Juan Mata for the fourth. Torres finished with three goals and one assist in only 189 minutes and won the tournament’s Golden Boot, edging Mario Gomez on playing time. His goal against Italy also made him the first player to score in two EURO finals, having scored the winner against Germany in 2008.
