Adidas - Real Madrid 2006/07 Home Football Shirt 'RONALDO'

This Real Madrid 2006/07 home shirt was made by adidas and features Ronaldo Nazário’s #9 nameset. Built around adidas’ Teamgeist template, the design combines Real Madrid’s traditional white base with black shoulder stripes, light grey mesh panels and subtle vertical detailing. The shirt also features the BenQ Siemens sponsor and the FIFA award badge recognising Real Madrid as the Best Club of the 20th Century.

The 2006/07 campaign was Fabio Capello’s first season back in charge and ultimately ended with Real Madrid winning their 30th La Liga title. It was one of the most dramatic title races in the club’s history: Madrid and Barcelona both finished on 76 points, with Real taking the championship on the head-to-head tiebreaker. The title was secured on the final day with a 3–1 comeback victory over Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabéu.

For Ronaldo, however, the shirt represents the final chapter of his Real Madrid career. The Brazilian had worn #9 since arriving from Inter in 2002 and was one of the defining figures of the Galácticos era, but the arrival of Ruud van Nistelrooy and a reduced role under Capello brought his time in Madrid towards its conclusion. Ronaldo left for AC Milan in January 2007, meaning he departed midway through the season in which Real would eventually reclaim the Spanish title. 

That context makes the Ronaldo #9 configuration particularly significant. Rather than representing the peak of his Real Madrid years, it captures the end of an era: Ronaldo, David Beckham and Roberto Carlos were all approaching the end of their time at the Bernabéu, while players such as Sergio Ramos and new signing Van Nistelrooy represented the changing identity of the team.
