This is Italy’s 2022 home shirt by Puma, one of the final Azzurri home designs from Puma before Italy moved to adidas. The shirt keeps the classic royal blue base but adds a modern paneled construction inspired by Italy’s four World Cup titles, with four tonal sections worked into the body of the shirt.
The gold detailing on the Puma logos, front number and Chiesa #14 nameset gives the shirt a premium feel, while the tricolore collar detail adds a clean national touch. The FIGC crest with four stars sits proudly on the chest, marking Italy’s World Cup victories in 1934, 1938, 1982 and 2006.
Federico Chiesa makes this version especially appealing. After his standout role in Italy’s Euro 2020-winning campaign, Chiesa became one of the faces of the new Azzurri generation. His direct style, pace and big-match personality made him one of the most exciting Italian players of the era.
Although Italy famously missed the 2022 World Cup, this shirt still carries strong historical significance. It represents a strange and memorable chapter: the reigning European champions wearing a World Cup-year shirt without being present at the tournament.
