This Barcelona 2019/20 home shirt was made by Nike and features Lionel Messi’s iconic #10 nameset together with La Liga sleeve detailing and the Beko sleeve sponsor. The shirt comes from Messi’s second season as Barcelona captain and one in which he continued to set individual records despite a turbulent campaign for the club.
The 2019/20 campaign was a season of considerable change at Barcelona. Ernesto Valverde was replaced by Quique Setién in January, while the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic extended the season into the summer. Barcelona ultimately finished second in La Liga behind Real Madrid and reached the Champions League quarter-finals, bringing an end to a run of consecutive league titles.
Messi remained the defining figure of the team. He scored 25 goals in 33 La Liga appearances to win a record seventh Pichichi Trophy, surpassing Telmo Zarra’s previous record of six. Messi also provided 21 league assists, meaning he finished the campaign as both La Liga’s leading goalscorer and leading assist provider.
