This Barcelona 2016/17 home shirt was made by Nike and features Neymar Jr’s #11 nameset together with La Liga sleeve detailing, the Beko sleeve sponsor and the gold FIFA World Champions 2015 badge on the chest. It comes from Neymar’s final season at Barcelona and the last campaign of the celebrated attacking trio of Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez.
Barcelona’s 2016/17 campaign was Luis Enrique’s final season in charge. The club won the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup and finished second in La Liga, but the defining moment came in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain. After losing the first leg of their Round of 16 tie 4–0, Barcelona produced the famous “Remontada” at Camp Nou, winning the return leg 6–1 to complete one of the most extraordinary comebacks in Champions League history.
Neymar was the central figure in that comeback. With Barcelona trailing 5–3 on aggregate late in the second leg, he scored twice in the closing stages before providing the delivery for Sergi Roberto’s decisive sixth goal in stoppage time. The Brazilian finished his final Barcelona campaign with 20 goals across all competitions before moving to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017, bringing his four-year spell alongside Messi and Suárez to an end.
