Nike - FC Barcelona 2007/08 Fodboldtrøje 'PUYOL' på udebane

This FC Barcelona 2007/08 away shirt was made by Nike and features Carles Puyol’s #5 nameset together with the LFP sleeve patch. The distinctive turquoise design uses subtle tonal vertical stripes with bright yellow detailing on the Nike swoosh, sleeve cuffs, UNICEF sponsor and nameset. Most notably, the crest is surrounded by special embroidery commemorating the 50th anniversary of Camp Nou, which opened in 1957.

The 2007/08 campaign was Frank Rijkaard’s final season in charge and marked the end of one Barcelona era just before Pep Guardiola’s arrival. The squad brought together established stars such as Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto’o and Puyol with Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andrés Iniesta, while Thierry Henry had arrived from Arsenal that summer. Barcelona finished third in La Liga and reached the semi-finals of both the Champions League and Copa del Rey. 

Puyol was already firmly established as Barcelona’s captain and defensive leader by this point. A product of La Masia, he had taken over the captaincy earlier in the decade and would ultimately spend his entire senior career at the club, making 663 appearances and becoming one of the defining figures of Barcelona’s most successful era.

For collectors, the Puyol #5 configuration gives this shirt a particularly strong connection to Barcelona’s identity during the period. Combined with the LFP sleeve patch, UNICEF branding, unusual turquoise colourway and Camp Nou 50th-anniversary detailing, it captures the club at a transitional moment immediately before the Guardiola era transformed Barcelona into the dominant side of the following seasons.
