Nike - Celtic FC 2014/15 Third Football Shirt 'LUSTIG'

This Celtic 2014/15 third shirt was made by Nike and features Swedish defender Mikael Lustig’s #23 nameset together with Scottish Professional Football League sleeve patches. The white design was Celtic’s third kit for the season and is particularly notable as the final third shirt produced during the club’s long Nike era before New Balance became kit supplier in 2015. 

The 2014/15 season was Ronny Deila’s first as Celtic manager and ended with a domestic double. Celtic retained the Scottish Premiership title and won the League Cup, defeating Dundee United 2–0 in the final. In Europe, they moved from Champions League qualifying into the Europa League, progressing from a group containing Salzburg, Dinamo Zagreb and Astra Giurgiu before meeting Inter Milan in the Round of 32. A dramatic 3–3 draw at Celtic Park was followed by a 1–0 defeat at San Siro.

Lustig was already an established Celtic player by this point, having joined from Rosenborg in January 2012. His 2014/15 campaign was heavily disrupted by injury, limiting him to 16 appearances across all competitions, but he still scored twice in only five Premiership appearances. Both goals came in Celtic’s 2–1 victory over Aberdeen in September 2014. The season ultimately delivered another league title for the Swedish international, one of eight consecutive Scottish championships he won during his time at Celtic.

For collectors, the combination of Lustig #23, Scottish league sleeve detailing and the heritage-inspired white, green and gold design makes this a particularly distinctive Celtic shirt. It represents both the latter years of Lustig’s successful spell in Glasgow and the end of Celtic’s Nike era, while the direct references to the club’s first shirt and Irish heritage give the design a story beyond the 2014/15 season itself.
