This is the Sweden 2002 away shirt made by adidas, shown here with Ibrahimovic 21 on the back. It features a clean blue base with yellow detailing, the Svenska Fotbollförbundet crest, blue-and-yellow adidas styling, and the same performance-led construction used across Sweden’s 2002 World Cup shirts. With the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan sleeve patch and the Ibrahimovic 21 print, it becomes an especially interesting piece from the early stage of Zlatan Ibrahimović’s international career.
The design feels very much of its era. Compared with Sweden’s more expressive 1990s shirts, this one is cleaner and more technical, with a sharper focus on fit, ventilation, and streamlined panel construction. The blue base gives it a stronger contrast to the home shirt, while the yellow accents keep the national identity instantly recognizable. It is understated compared with some of adidas’ earlier Sweden shirts, but that simplicity is part of what makes it appealing today.
This shirt is most closely associated with the 2002 FIFA World Cup, when Sweden reached the round of 16. The squad included Henrik Larsson, Freddie Ljungberg, Marcus Allbäck, Anders Svensson, Olof Mellberg, Teddy Lučić, Tobias Linderoth, and a young Zlatan Ibrahimović. Ibrahimović was still emerging at international level, which makes the Ibrahimovic 21 print especially compelling from a collector’s point of view. It connects the shirt not just to Sweden’s World Cup run in Korea and Japan, but also to the beginning of the national-team journey of the country’s most famous modern footballer.
