This England 2006 away shirt was made by Umbro and features David Beckham’s iconic #7 nameset together with the official 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany sleeve patch. Released for England’s World Cup campaign, the shirt comes from the final major tournament of Beckham’s era as captain of the national team.
The design features a bold red base inspired by England’s famous 1966 World Cup-winning colours, complemented by gold detailing throughout. The Three Lions crest is finished with gold accents and the 1966 star above, while the Umbro logo, front number and Beckham #7 nameset continue the gold theme. Technical paneling and mesh detailing around the shoulders and sides give the shirt the distinctive mid-2000s Umbro aesthetic.
England travelled to Germany in 2006 with one of the most celebrated squads in the country's modern history, featuring Beckham alongside Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand. Beckham captained the side through the tournament and scored the winning goal from a trademark free kick against Ecuador in the Round of 16, becoming the first England player to score at three different World Cups. England's campaign eventually ended on penalties against Portugal in the quarter-finals.
The tournament also marked the end of Beckham's six-year spell as England captain, as he stepped down following the defeat to Portugal.
