This Italy 2010 goalkeeper football shirt was manufactured by Puma and features Gianluigi Buffon's iconic #1 nameset. The shirt was released for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, where Italy entered the tournament as defending world champions following their historic triumph in Germany four years earlier.
Buffon was already regarded as one of the world's greatest goalkeepers, having played a decisive role in Italy's 2006 World Cup victory. Under returning manager Marcello Lippi, Italy entered the 2010 tournament with several members of their championship-winning squad. However, their title defence ended in the group stage, with Buffon appearing only in the opening match against Paraguay before a back injury ruled him out of the remaining fixtures.
Featuring Buffon's legendary #1 nameset and a distinctive colourway, this shirt represents an important chapter in the career of one of football's most celebrated goalkeepers.
