This is Cameroon’s 2002 away shirt by Puma, one of the most famous and controversial national-team designs of the modern era. The sleeveless construction made it instantly recognizable, pushing football shirt design far beyond the traditional template and giving Cameroon a look that felt more like a performance statement than a standard kit.
The Eto’o #9 nameset makes this version especially collectible. Samuel Eto’o was emerging as one of Africa’s brightest attacking talents at the time, and the 2002 World Cup came shortly after he helped Cameroon win the Africa Cup of Nations. His pace, finishing and personality would later make him one of the greatest African footballers of all time.
This shirt is closely tied to Puma’s bold early-2000s experimentation. FIFA later objected to the sleeveless design, which led Cameroon to wear modified versions with black undersleeves during the 2002 World Cup. That controversy has only added to the shirt’s cult status among collectors.
For collectors, this is a true statement piece: rare, instantly recognizable and connected to one of the most iconic African national teams of the era. With Eto’o #9 on the back, it captures both Cameroon’s fearless identity and the early rise of a future football legend.
