Borussia Dortmund's 2021/22 Cup home football shirt, manufactured by Puma, features English midfielder Jude Bellingham #22. Released during his second season at Signal Iduna Park, the shirt represents an important period in Bellingham's development into one of Europe's most promising young midfielders. Having joined Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020, Bellingham quickly established himself as a key figure in the team's midfield, combining technical ability, physicality and maturity well beyond his years. His performances in Germany helped cement his reputation as one of English football's brightest emerging talents.
The shirt features Dortmund's iconic yellow colourway in a vibrant fluorescent shade, complemented by black detailing around the shoulders, sleeves and chest. A subtle all-over pattern incorporates repeated BVB 09 crests, while two horizontal black bands frame the club's name across the front. The Puma logo sits centrally above the chest detailing, with the Evonik sponsor displayed in purple below. Designed specifically for cup competitions, the shirt offers a distinctive alternative to Dortmund's regular Bundesliga home kit. Bellingham's name and number 22 appear on the back in black lettering with white outlines, accompanied by Dortmund branding beneath the number. Puma's dryCELL technology completes the design.
The 2021/22 season saw Borussia Dortmund finish second in the Bundesliga under Marco Rose, with Bellingham continuing to develop into one of the team's most influential players. Dortmund competed in the UEFA Champions League but finished third in their group behind Ajax and Sporting CP, subsequently entering the UEFA Europa League, where they were eliminated by Rangers in the knockout round play-offs. Their defence of the DFB-Pokal also ended in the round of 16 against FC St. Pauli. Despite the team's mixed results, Bellingham enjoyed an impressive individual campaign, making 44 appearances across all competitions and contributing six goals and 14 assists, further strengthening his reputation as one of Europe's most exciting young midfielders.
