This Arsenal 2016/17 home shirt was made by Puma and features Mesut Özil’s #11 nameset together with Premier League sleeve patches. The shirt comes from Özil’s fourth season in North London and from a campaign that ended with Arsenal lifting the FA Cup for a record 13th time.
The 2016/17 campaign was Arsène Wenger’s 21st season in charge. Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League, ending their remarkable run of 19 consecutive seasons qualifying for the Champions League, but finished the campaign by winning the FA Cup. They defeated Manchester City 2–1 after extra time in the semi-final before beating newly crowned Premier League champions Chelsea 2–1 at Wembley, with Aaron Ramsey scoring the decisive goal. The triumph made Wenger the first manager to win the FA Cup seven times.
Özil remained central to a talented Arsenal attack alongside Alexis Sánchez, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott. He scored eight Premier League goals during the campaign and produced one of his most memorable Arsenal performances in Europe, completing a hat-trick in a 6–0 Champions League victory over Ludogorets. He scored four times during Arsenal’s Champions League campaign and also started both the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City and the final against Chelsea.
