This is the VfL Wolfsburg 2016/17 Home Shirt, featuring Victor Osimhen #18 during the very beginning of his European career. The Nigerian striker joined Wolfsburg in January 2017 after emerging as one of world football’s most exciting young prospects, having starred for Nigeria at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Osimhen arrived in Germany as a teenager, making his first steps in senior European football before eventually developing into one of the leading strikers of his generation.
Manufactured by Nike, the 2016/17 home shirt features Wolfsburg’s unmistakable bright green colourway with contrasting dark green detailing around the collar and sleeve cuffs. The minimalist design is finished with the white Nike Swoosh and Wolfsburg crest on the chest, while the large Volkswagen logo takes centre stage. Nike’s Dri-FIT technology and lightweight construction complete the clean performance-focused design.
The 2016/17 season proved challenging for Wolfsburg, who finished 16th in the Bundesliga and were forced into a relegation play-off against Eintracht Braunschweig to preserve their top-flight status. Osimhen made his Bundesliga debut during the second half of the campaign, beginning a European journey that would later take him through Belgium and France before his breakthrough at Napoli.
