This Manchester United 2014/15 home shirt was made by Nike and features Wayne Rooney’s #10 nameset together with Barclays Premier League sleeve patches. The season marked the beginning of the Louis van Gaal era and was particularly significant for Rooney, who was appointed Manchester United’s permanent club captain in August 2014 following the departure of Nemanja Vidić.
The 2014/15 campaign represented a recovery from the difficult season that followed Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement. Under Van Gaal, United finished fourth in the Premier League and returned to Champions League qualification. The squad underwent considerable change, with Ángel Di María, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Radamel Falcao joining a group that already included Rooney, Robin van Persie, Juan Mata, Michael Carrick and David de Gea.
Rooney remained one of United’s most important players while also adapting to several different roles under Van Gaal, including periods in midfield. He scored 12 Premier League goals in 33 appearances, making him United’s leading league scorer, and finished with 14 goals across all competitions. The season also began a new chapter in his career as captain of both Manchester United and England, with the England appointment following later in August 2014.

It represents Rooney’s first season as club captain, the introduction of Chevrolet sponsorship and, notably, the final home shirt of United’s long Nike era before adidas returned as kit supplier for 2015/16.
