The shirt is rooted in the classic “sky blue” colour that Manchester City is known for, but with modern detailing and performance upgrades that distinguish it for the the 2018/19 cycle. The base is a clean, soft sky blue, while the sleeves and shoulders fade into a deeper blue via a “speed blur” graphic effect — a pattern meant to evoke motion and dynamism.
The neckline is modest, with minimal fuss, so as not to distract from the body and shoulder graphics. The club crest and Nike swoosh are kept understated and flush, while the sponsor Etihad Airways is printed in darker blue, offering good contrast without overwhelming the design. The use of tonal gradients and subtle graphic elements gives the shirt a sleek, futuristic feel while remaining immediately identifiable as City’s home kit.
