Inter Milan's 2011/12 home football shirt, manufactured by Nike, features Uruguayan striker Diego Forlán #9 alongside official Serie A sleeve patches. The shirt comes from Forlán's first and only season at Inter, following his successful spell at Atlético Madrid, where he won the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League and established himself as one of Europe's leading forwards. Arriving in Milan in August 2011, Forlán joined a squad still carrying the legacy of the club's historic 2009/10 treble-winning campaign.
The 2011/12 season was a transitional period for Inter Milan following several years of domestic and European dominance. The club experienced managerial changes, with Gian Piero Gasperini, Claudio Ranieri and Andrea Stramaccioni all taking charge during the campaign. Inter eventually finished sixth in Serie A, missing out on Champions League qualification. Forlán struggled with injuries and limited playing time, making 18 league appearances and scoring twice before departing for Internacional in Brazil in the summer of 2012. Despite the difficult campaign, the shirt remains a distinctive piece from Inter's post-treble era, combining the club's traditional colours with the nameset of one of Uruguay's most celebrated forwards.
