This is the Celtic 2015/16 Third Shirt, worn by Virgil van Dijk #5 during his final season at Celtic before completing a move to the Premier League and beginning his rise to becoming one of football's greatest defenders.
Produced by New Balance, the 2015/16 third shirt is one of Celtic's most striking modern designs. It features a vibrant fluorescent yellow base with bold black horizontal hoops, complemented by black trim and subtle green detailing. The iconic Celtic crest sits beneath the club's European Cup star, while the Magners Irish Cider sponsor dominates the centre of the shirt. Constructed using NB Dry technology, the shirt delivers lightweight comfort and breathability, making it a standout both on the pitch and among collectors.
The 2015/16 season saw Celtic secure their fifth consecutive Scottish Premiership title, while also lifting the Scottish League Cup. It proved to be the final campaign under manager Ronny Deila before Brendan Rodgers took charge the following season. Although domestic success continued, the season also marked the end of an important era as several key players departed, including Virgil van Dijk.
Virgil van Dijk had already established himself as one of Scotland's outstanding defenders during his time at Celtic. Calm in possession, dominant in the air and exceptional at reading the game, the Dutch centre-back played a crucial role in Celtic's domestic dominance before earning a move to Southampton in September 2015. His performances at Celtic laid the foundation for his later success at Liverpool, where he won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and numerous individual honours, cementing his place among the world's elite defenders.
For collectors, the 2015/16 third shirt is one of Celtic's most memorable New Balance designs. Combined with the highly sought-after Virgil van Dijk nameset, it represents the final chapter of one of the club's greatest modern players before his rise to global superstardom.
