This Aston Villa shirt is the 2006/07 away kit made by Hummel. The design is clean and modern for its time, dominated by a crisp white base that is contrasted by claret details. The collar features a V-neck style with a claret insert, while claret shoulder panels and Hummel’s trademark chevrons down the sides and sleeves give the shirt a bold, athletic edge. The sponsor, 32RED.com, is printed prominently in red across the chest, matching the club’s traditional secondary color scheme. The Premier League patches on the sleeves tie it firmly to its era, adding authenticity to its match-worn aesthetic. On the back, the name and number are styled in black with the official Premier League font, ensuring strong visibility against the white background.
In terms of season context, this shirt was worn during Martin O’Neill’s first season in charge of Aston Villa, a period marked by transition and rebuilding. The campaign saw Villa finish mid-table, but it also laid the groundwork for more competitive seasons that followed. Stan Petrov, whose name and number appear on this shirt, was a key figure brought in from Celtic that year, adding leadership and energy to the midfield. The shirt reflects a period of cautious optimism, where Villa were beginning to reassert themselves in the Premier League under new guidance.
