This Newcastle United away shirt from 2008/09 was produced by adidas, featuring the classic three-stripe detailing across the shoulders. The front is finished with the iconic club crest at the chest and the era-defining sponsor Northern Rock, a logo that’s become synonymous with Newcastle’s mid-to-late 2000s identity. The shirt is also finished with Premier League detailing
The shirt comes in a deep royal purple / indigo tone, balanced with light grey and white adidas accents over the shoulders. It’s a sleek, minimal design with a strong silhouette — very “classic adidas” from this period: no overload, just bold colour blocking and sharp structure.
The 2008/09 season is one Newcastle fans won’t forget — a year of drama, instability and huge emotion. Despite memorable individual moments and major names in the squad, the club ultimately suffered relegation from the Premier League, ending a long top-flight run.
It represents a turbulent but iconic period at St James’ Park, with players like Obafemi Martins bringing speed, flair and unpredictability in attack. Shirts from this season carry real weight.
