The 2015/16 season was Louis van Gaal's second campaign as manager. Manchester United finished fifth in the Premier League but ended the season on a high by winning the FA Cup, defeating Crystal Palace 2–1 after extra time. It was the club's first major trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement and secured a place in the UEFA Europa League.
