This Liverpool 2010/12 home shirt was made by adidas and features Luis Suárez’s #7 nameset together with Barclays Premier League sleeve patches. The shirt was used across both the 2010/11 and 2011/12 campaigns, meaning it spans Suárez’s arrival at Anfield in January 2011 and his first full season with the club. Signed from Ajax, the Uruguayan was given Liverpool’s famous #7 and scored just 16 minutes into his debut against Stoke City.
The shirt’s second season brought Liverpool their first major trophy since 2006. Under Kenny Dalglish, the club won the 2012 League Cup after defeating Cardiff City on penalties at Wembley and also reached the FA Cup final, where they lost 2–1 to Chelsea. The squad included Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Dirk Kuyt, Daniel Agger, Pepe Reina, Craig Bellamy and Andy Carroll, alongside Suárez.
Suárez finished 2011/12 as Liverpool’s leading scorer with 17 goals across all competitions, including 11 in the Premier League, three in the League Cup and three in the FA Cup. His first 18 months at Anfield provided an early glimpse of the player who would later produce his extraordinary 31-goal Premier League campaign in 2013/14. Suárez ultimately spent three and a half seasons at Liverpool, scoring 82 goals in 133 appearances, with the 2012 League Cup his major honour at the club.
For collectors, the combination of Suárez #7, Barclays Premier League sleeve patches and adidas’ final Liverpool home design makes this a particularly appealing shirt from the early part of his Anfield career. It also represents a transitional moment in Liverpool shirt history: the introduction of Standard Chartered, the final home shirt of the club’s adidas era before the switch to Warrior in 2012, and the design worn as Suárez began establishing himself as one of Liverpool’s defining players of the decade.
