This adidas FC Basel away shirt from 2014/15 is a really clean example of a Champions League-era Basel kit. The white base gives it a sharp, minimalist look, while the black shoulder panels and the red-and-blue trim at the collar and sleeve ends bring in the club’s identity without making the design feel busy. It is one of those shirts that looks simple at first glance, but the detailing makes it feel distinctly European and very polished.
What elevates this particular piece is the Safari 19 nameset on the back. That gives it a more player-specific feel and makes it a bit less generic than a blank version. For collectors, that kind of detail matters, especially on clubs like Basel where Champions League shirts often carry more weight because of the club’s strong reputation in European competition during that era.
The UEFA Champions League starball and Respect sleeve patches are also a big part of the appeal. They place the shirt directly in Basel’s 2014/15 European run and give it a stronger match-context identity. Even if the front is very understated, those sleeve patches immediately signal that this is not just a standard domestic shirt.
Season-wise, Basel in 2014/15 were still one of the most respected clubs outside Europe’s “big five” leagues. They had become known for dominating in Switzerland while also consistently showing they could compete on the continental stage. Because of that, shirts from this period tend to have stronger collector value than you might expect from a non-top-five-league club. They represent a side that regularly punched above its weight in Europe.
Overall, this is a very tasteful shirt: understated, clearly tied to Basel’s Champions League identity, and made more interesting by the Safari 19 print. It is the kind of shirt that works both for someone who appreciates clean adidas design and for someone who likes club-specific European pieces with a bit more character.
