Adidas - Chelsea FC 2015/16 Third Football Shirt 'HAZARD'

This Chelsea 2015/16 third shirt was made by adidas and features Eden Hazard’s #10 nameset. Released in black with contrasting white detailing, it comes from Hazard’s fourth season at Stamford Bridge and immediately followed his outstanding 2014/15 campaign, when he had been named PFA Players’ Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season. 

The season itself was an unusually turbulent one for the defending Premier League champions. José Mourinho left the club in December after a difficult opening to the campaign, with Guus Hiddink returning as interim manager. Chelsea eventually recovered to finish tenth in the Premier League, while their Champions League campaign ended against Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16. The squad still contained much of the previous season’s title-winning core, including John Terry, Cesc Fàbregas, Diego Costa, Willian, César Azpilicueta and Hazard.

Hazard also endured a difficult campaign by the exceptional standards he had set the previous year, with injuries and a loss of form contributing to a long wait for his first Premier League goal of the season. He eventually finished with six goals across all competitions, including four in the league. His defining moment came against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in May 2016: Hazard curled in a superb second-half equaliser to complete Chelsea’s comeback from 2–0 down to draw 2–2, a goal that was subsequently voted Chelsea’s Goal of the Season.

For collectors, the Hazard #10 configuration gives this shirt a strong connection to one of the defining players of Chelsea’s 2010s era. The black-and-white design, first season of Yokohama sponsorship and its place within the final years of Chelsea’s adidas partnership also distinguish it from the club’s more familiar blue shirts, while the Hazard nameset connects it directly to his seven-season spell at Stamford Bridge.
