Adidas - Chelsea FC 2015/16 Home Football Shirt 'HAZARD'

This Chelsea 2015/16 home shirt was made by adidas and features Eden Hazard’s #10 nameset. The shirt was introduced as Chelsea began the defence of their 2014/15 Premier League title and represents the final phase of the club’s long adidas era. It was also the first Chelsea home shirt to feature Yokohama Tyres as the main sponsor, replacing Samsung after more than a decade. 

Chelsea entered the campaign as reigning champions under José Mourinho, but the season developed very differently from their dominant 2014/15 title win. Mourinho departed in December and Guus Hiddink returned as interim manager, eventually guiding Chelsea to a tenth-place Premier League finish. In Europe, Chelsea reached the Champions League Round of 16, where they were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain.

Hazard had entered the season after an extraordinary 2014/15 campaign in which he had been named PFA Players’ Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season. Injuries and a loss of form made 2015/16 a much more difficult campaign, but its defining moment came against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in May. With Spurs needing victory to maintain their title challenge, Hazard curled a superb equaliser into the top corner to make it 2–2, a result that mathematically secured Leicester City’s Premier League title. The strike was subsequently voted Chelsea’s Goal of the Season.

For collectors, the Hazard #10 configuration captures an interesting transitional season in Chelsea history. It combines one of the defining players of the club’s modern era with the first Yokohama-sponsored home design and comes immediately after Hazard’s remarkable 2014/15 individual campaign. His late-season return to form, particularly the memorable Tottenham goal, also gives the shirt a strong connection to one of the Premier League’s most famous title races.
