Chelsea FC's 2012/13 home football shirt, manufactured by adidas, features club legend Frank Lampard #8 alongside Barclays Premier League sleeve patches. The shirt was released as Chelsea entered the season as reigning UEFA Champions League winners, having secured their historic first European title in Munich in May 2012. It represents a particularly significant campaign for Lampard, who became Chelsea's all-time leading goalscorer and further cemented his legacy as one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history.
The 2012/13 season was a historic one for Frank Lampard and Chelsea. On 11 May 2013, Lampard scored twice against Aston Villa to surpass Bobby Tambling's long-standing record of 202 goals, becoming Chelsea's all-time leading scorer with 203 goals. He finished the season with 15 Premier League goals, an exceptional return from midfield. Chelsea finished third in the Premier League and won the UEFA Europa League, defeating Benfica 2–1 in the final in Amsterdam. The campaign also included managerial changes, with Roberto Di Matteo replaced by Rafael Benítez in November 2012. Lampard's record-breaking achievement and Chelsea's European success make this shirt a memorable piece of the club's history.
