Adidas - Bayern Munchen 2007/09 Home Football Shirt 'RIBERY'

This Bayern Munich 2007/09 home shirt was made by adidas and features Franck Ribéry’s #7 nameset. Introduced for the 2007/08 season and retained for 2008/09, the shirt is closely associated with the beginning of Ribéry’s remarkable 12-year spell in Munich. He arrived from Marseille in the summer of 2007 and immediately became one of Bayern’s most influential players. 

The shirt’s first season was particularly successful. Under Ottmar Hitzfeld, Bayern won both the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal, with a squad featuring Ribéry alongside Luca Toni, Miroslav Klose, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm, Zé Roberto, Mark van Bommel and Oliver Kahn. Bayern also reached the UEFA Cup semi-finals, where their European campaign ended against Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Ribéry made an immediate impact. In his first Bundesliga campaign he recorded 11 goals in 28 appearances, while Bayern credit him with a further eight assists. He also contributed two goals and four assists during the DFB-Pokal-winning run. His performances earned him the German Footballer of the Year award for 2007/08, an exceptional achievement in his debut season in Germany. The shirt continued into 2008/09, when Ribéry scored another nine Bundesliga goals and made his Champions League debut for Bayern, scoring four times during their run to the quarter-finals.

For collectors, the combination of Ribéry #7, T-Home sponsorship and the distinctive red-and-white hoops makes this an especially recognisable Bayern shirt from the late 2000s.
