This Arsenal 2021/22 home shirt was made by adidas and features Martin Ødegaard’s #8 nameset together with Premier League sleeve patches and the No Room For Racism patch. The season was particularly significant for Ødegaard, who completed a permanent move to Arsenal from Real Madrid in August 2021 after spending the second half of the previous campaign on loan in North London. He was handed the #8 shirt upon his return.
The design features Arsenal’s traditional red body and white sleeves, complemented by navy detailing around the collar, sleeve cuffs and adidas Three Stripes across the shoulders. The Emirates Fly Better sponsor appears in white across the chest, while the combination of red, white and navy gives the shirt a particularly classic Arsenal appearance within the club’s modern adidas era.
The 2021/22 campaign represented an important stage in Mikel Arteta’s rebuild. With a young core featuring Ødegaard, Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Martinelli and new arrivals including Aaron Ramsdale and Ben White, Arsenal challenged for Champions League qualification for much of the season. They ultimately finished fifth in the Premier League with 69 points, securing a return to European football.
Ødegaard quickly became central to Arsenal’s developing side. In his first full season as a permanent Arsenal player, the Norwegian made 36 Premier League appearances, scoring seven goals and providing four assists. His creativity, technical quality and influence in midfield established him as one of the team's key players, laying the foundations for his appointment as Arsenal captain the following season.
For collectors, the combination of Ødegaard #8, Premier League detailing and the traditional red-and-white adidas design makes this an appealing shirt from an important period in Arsenal’s recent history. It represents Ødegaard’s first full season as a permanent Arsenal player and the beginning of his transformation into one of the defining figures of Arteta’s side.
