This is Argentina’s 2016 home shirt by adidas, worn during the Copa América Centenario in the United States. The shirt keeps Argentina’s classic sky blue and white vertical stripes, but with a slightly cleaner, more modern cut compared to earlier adidas designs.
The black collar and black detailing give the shirt a sharper look, while the gold AFA crest with two stars adds a premium touch. The official Copa América Centenario patch and CONMEBOL patch place this shirt directly in one of the most memorable Argentina campaigns of the decade.
The Messi #10 nameset makes this version especially significant. Lionel Messi was the face of Argentina’s golden generation, leading a squad that reached the 2016 Copa América final. Although Argentina lost to Chile on penalties, the tournament became a major emotional moment in Messi’s international career, as he briefly announced his retirement from the national team after the final.
For collectors, this is a highly desirable Argentina shirt because it combines Messi #10, official tournament patches and a major Copa América campaign. It captures a dramatic chapter before Argentina’s later triumphs in Copa América 2021 and the 2022 World Cup.
